As part of our history module on Ancient China, 6th Class made clay warrior models this week. First we studied the finding of the tomb of 8,000 terracotta soldiers from around 2,000 years ago. Next we sketched a design of the front, back and side of the model. Then we used various modelling techniques such as coiling, scoring and pinching to made a sturdy warrior that would stand up. We tried to give our warriors personality as they were based on real people. We added accessories and details such as facial expressions and hairstyles with modelling tools at the end.
