Green Schools

The Green-Schools Programme is an international environmental programme designed to teach good habits to children and parents about the environment. It is a partnership between An Taisce, the local authority and the school.

The driving force of this project is the Green-Schools committee which is made up of two pupils from 1st – 6th Class, led by Ms.Kenny. The committee meets regularly to discuss Green-Schools issues and to implement initiatives.

RPNS has been part of the Green Schools Programme for a number of years and so far we have earned five green flags. These flags were awarded for recycling, energy saving, water saving, travel and biodiversity.  We are currently working towards our sixth flag on the theme of global citizenship and waste reduction.
